Describes the nature of performance anxiety that can appear in students doing their first clinical placement in Supervised Pastoral Education1 in the Canadian Association of Spiritual Care. Explores origins of performance anxiety drawing on research, the Diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders-5, theology of Paul Tillich and supervisory experiences of authors. Examines Canadian contextual factors like COVID-19, culture and multi-faith. Offers ways students might manage anxiety with help from supervisors and peers.
RESUMEN
What are some ways that people from the Buddhist, Muslim and Christian faith traditions can reflect upon the coronavirus pandemic using a theological lens? How can Buddhist, Muslim and Christian practitioners respond in practical ways to the coronavirus pandemic, utilizing resources from their faith traditions? This contribution offers reflections on the worldwide suffering and challenges that the pandemic has caused from the perspectives of Buddhist, Muslim and Christian practitioners. Each writer offers practical resources and theological reflection from their vantage point as spiritual care providers and as people of faith.Alternate abstract:Wie können Menschen buddhistischen, islamischen und christlichen Glaubens die Coronavirus-Pandemie deuten? Welche religiösen Kategorien und theologischen Perspektiven stehen ihnen dafür zur Verfügung? Dieser Zwischenruf bietet Betrachtungen zum Leid und zu den Herausforderungen, von denen praktizierende Gläubige der drei Traditionen weltweit betroffen sind.
